Third Time’s the Charm: Another Swarm at the Perfect Height

Just two days after my last swarm rescue, it happened again — another swarm, this time in the most beekeeper-friendly spot imaginable: right at a comfortable working height.

There was no climbing, no ladders, no straining to reach — just a calm, accessible swarm hanging conveniently on a branch within arm’s reach. For any beekeeper, that’s a rare treat. The bees were relaxed, and the whole process went smoothly from approach to relocation.

It’s fascinating how every swarm, no matter how similar on the surface, brings its own rhythm and small surprises. This one reminded me how nature sometimes offers a break and makes the work not only easier but thoroughly enjoyable. With three successful swarm captures in a row, my confidence is growing — and so is my love for this craft.

Dritter Schwarm: Zwei Tage später in perfekter Arbeitshöhe

Nur zwei Tage nach dem letzten Einsatz rief der nächste Schwarm – und diesmal war er besonders freundlich zu mir positioniert: in angenehmer Arbeitshöhe!

Kein Klettern, keine Leiter, kein Verrenkungen – der Schwarm hing griffbereit in einem Strauch und ließ sich ganz entspannt einfangen. Für uns Imker ist so ein Szenario ein echter Glücksfall. Die Bienen waren ruhig, und die ganze Aktion verlief wie im Bilderbuch.

Es ist spannend, wie jeder Schwarm seinen eigenen Charakter mitbringt. Dieser hier war ein Geschenk – eine kleine Erinnerung daran, dass die Natur manchmal gnädig ist und uns die Arbeit leicht macht. Drei erfolgreiche Schwärme in Folge – das baut Vertrauen auf und macht richtig Freude am Imkern.

Troisième essaim : à hauteur parfaite deux jours plus tard

Deux jours à peine après le dernier essaim, un autre s’est présenté – et cette fois, dans une position de rêve pour tout apiculteur : exactement à hauteur de travail !

Aucune échelle, aucun effort pour grimper – l’essaim était suspendu tranquillement à portée de main. Une véritable bénédiction dans notre métier ! Les abeilles étaient paisibles, et la capture s’est faite sans le moindre souci.

Chaque essaim a sa propre dynamique, et celui-ci m’a rappelé à quel point la nature peut parfois nous faciliter la tâche. Trois captures d’affilée, chacune différente – et toujours plus de passion pour l’apiculture qui grandit en moi.

Buzzing Success: My First Bee Swarm Catch (Possibly Two!)

On Monday, I experienced a milestone every beekeeper anticipates: I caught my very first bee swarm! Actually, it might have been two swarms merged into one, considering the sheer size and activity level of the buzzing cluster. The event was as thrilling as it was humbling.

With the right tools and a calm hand, I approached the swarm. The process was smoother than I expected, though the weight and volume of bees suggested I might be dealing with more than just a typical swarm. Once I got them into the box, I couldn’t help but feel a deep respect for these creatures and their incredible instinct to survive and thrive.

Back at the hive, the bees settled in quickly, showing signs of acceptance and normal behavior. Whether it was one super-swarm or two that joined forces, I’m incredibly proud of the successful catch — and even more excited about what this means for the future of my beekeeping journey.

SummSummSumm: Mein erster Bienenschwarm (oder waren es zwei?)

Am Montag war es endlich so weit – ich habe meinen allerersten Bienenschwarm eingefangen! Vielleicht waren es sogar zwei, so riesig war die Masse an Bienen, die sich in einem großen, summenden Knäuel versammelt hatte.

Mit der nötigen Ruhe, etwas Erfahrung und dem passenden Equipment konnte ich mich dem Schwarm nähern und ihn erfolgreich einfangen. Schon während der Aktion kam mir der Gedanke, dass es sich eventuell um zwei zusammengeschlossene Schwärme handelte – so viele Bienen hatte ich noch nie auf einmal gesehen.

Zurück im Bienenstock verlief alles ruhig. Die Bienen nahmen ihr neues Zuhause gut an, und die ersten Flugbewegungen machten Hoffnung auf eine starke, gesunde Kolonie. Ob ein Super-Schwarm oder zwei in einem – ich bin stolz auf diesen Meilenstein in meiner Imkerlaufbahn und freue mich auf alles, was noch kommt!

Un bourdonnement de réussite : ma première capture d’essaim (ou deux ?)

Lundi, j’ai franchi une étape marquante dans ma vie d’apiculteur : j’ai capturé mon tout premier essaim d’abeilles ! Et en fait, il se pourrait bien qu’il y en ait eu deux, vu l’ampleur impressionnante du regroupement.

Avec patience et les bons outils, je me suis approché et j’ai pu récupérer l’essaim sans difficulté majeure. Ce qui m’a surpris, c’est le poids et la densité – probablement deux essaims réunis, tellement il y avait de monde !

De retour à la ruche, les abeilles ont rapidement trouvé leurs marques, preuve que la capture s’était bien passée. Qu’il s’agisse d’un super-essaim ou d’une fusion de deux, je suis extrêmement fier de ce succès – et encore plus enthousiaste pour la suite de mon aventure apicole.
